About

Claudia Zorbas is a distinguished violinist and educator with over two decades of experience in performance, study, and teaching within the music industry. Born in Australia to Hungarian and Greek parents, her rich cultural heritage has profoundly influenced her musical journey.

At the age of 11, Claudia became the youngest student ever accepted into Budapest’s prestigious Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where she studied under renowned instructors Professor András Kiss and Professor Eszter Perényi. She further honed her craft by attending international masterclasses throughout Europe and Israel, learning from influential maestros such as Shlomo Mintz and Zakhar Bron.

Claudia’s exceptional talent has been recognized through numerous awards, including first prize in the Australian String Teachers’ Association violin competition in 1999, 2000, and 2001. In 2003, she won the Zathureczky Violin Competition in Hungary and performed live on television in Athens. She has also featured with the SBS Orchestra in Sydney, performing alongside James Morrison, and played Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Vác Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005. Her performance with Mark Coughlan at the Government House Ballroom in Perth was broadcast live on ABC FM throughout Australia. In 2006, Claudia secured first prize at the International Telemann Violin Competition in Poland, competing against 61 participants.

In addition to her performance accolades, Claudia holds a Bachelor of Music Performance with distinction and a Master’s Degree in Education. These academic achievements complement her practical experience, enabling her to provide a well-rounded and insightful approach to music education.

As an educator, Claudia has over a decade of experience teaching string instruments on the Fraser Coast, both privately and in prestigious schools. Her dedication to teaching has led her ensembles and students to achieve numerous first places in the Maryborough Eisteddfod and become Fanfare finalists. Many of her students have successfully completed AMEB exams up to Grade 7. Claudia has also directed various string workshops across schools in the Hervey Bay region.

Her past clients include the Queensland Youth Orchestra, St Peters Lutheran College, Fraser Coast Anglican College, Aldridge State High School, Maryborough Central State School, Kawungan State Primary School, Urangan State High School, Sandy Straits State School, and Riverside Christian College.

Claudia’s commitment to excellence, both as a performer and educator, continues to inspire and guide aspiring violinists on their musical journeys.

As a performer I have achieved first prize in the Australian String Teachers’ Association violin competition in 1999, 2000, 2001.

 

In 2003 I auditioned for a place at the elite Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, I studied there under the tutelage of Professor Andras Kiss and Professor Eszter Perenyi. During this time, I attended International Violin Masterclasses throughout Europe and Israel with the very well-known Shlomo Mintz, Zakhar Bron and many other influential maestros.

 

In 2003 I won the Zathurecky Violin Competition, in Hungary and have performed live on television in Athens. Featured for James Morrison with the SBS orchestra in Sydney. Performing Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with Vac Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005. Experience

I had spent 10+ years experience teaching strings instruments on the Fraser Coast, both privately and in many prestigious schools. I have had many great mentors and teachers to help me improve my skills as a teacher.

I have achieved many great results in the positions I have held over these years including the following with ensembles and students I was directly responsible for:
